The HAZWOPER 8-Hour Annual Refresher Training is required by OSHA for workers involved in hazardous waste operations and emergency response. This training updates workers on safety procedures, hazard identification, emergency protocols, and other key practices that support a safe work environment. It is mandated under OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.120 for individuals engaged in cleanup operations, emergency response, or the treatment, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste.
This annual refresher is required for individuals who have completed either the 24-Hour or 40-Hour HAZWOPER training and continue to work around hazardous substances. It applies to:
General site workers involved in hazardous waste operations.
Emergency response personnel handling hazardous materials.
Supervisors overseeing hazardous waste activities.
If the 8-Hour Annual HAZWOPER Refresher Training is not completed within 12 months of the previous training, workers may be required to retake the initial 24- or 40-hour HAZWOPER course to remain compliant with OSHA regulations.
