Workplace safety is regulated at both the federal and state levels. In Virginia, the Virginia State Plan, also known as Virginia Occupational Safety and Health (VOSH), helps protect the health and safety of workers. Approved by federal OSHA, VOSH is administered by the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry (DOLI) and has been in place since the late 1970s.
